Greetings and salutations to all of you out there in golfing land. It’s the Home Office of the Brothers’ Golf Tournament checking in and hoping each and every one of you and yours are in good spirits and in good health.
As many of you know the Brothers’ Golf Tournaments held their 8th Annual Invitational Golf Tournament last Saturday to one of the lowest participants in the field since our inaugural year back in 2003. That surely did not dampen the spirits of the 56 guys and gals who despite knowing that they were not going to get fed the usual tantalizing and delectable Caribbean cuisine of Miss Millie at the Family BBQ, still manage to make the day of golfing an event of Friendship and certainly FUN for the few…..
Lady Luck also did not show up on this day as none of our golfers were able to hit that one magical shot for a chance at $10,000 CASH…we certainly had a few close calls especially at the hole for the Carnival Cruise, but at the end of the day, none of our golfers were able to bag any of the 4 fantastic prizes in the Hole in One contest…
Lady Luck was however and is forever always shining for one group of individuals even if they can’t even hit a golf ball 100 yards…these lucky 50 individuals were just returning from up north (camp) that same afternoon as many of our golfers were still on the course. Yes folks, these lucky individuals on this day and every day are…
The Children of Camp Jumoke
We were delighted to have Karen Fleming (Head Nurse Camp Jumoke) join us on the patio after golfing and share with some of the stories and memories of Camp Jumoke (summer camp for children living with sickle cell disease) from the two weeks the kids were up there. Karen also presented the Brothers’ Tournament with a collage of pixs of the children at camp titled, Hope, Dream, Believe….(many thanks Karen and the kids from Camp Jumoke 2010).
As is the custom at all the Brothers’ Tournament, I would like to extend a hearty warm welcome to (2) two new golfers golfing with us for the very first time (Tanya Walker and Dwayne Ramage). We hope to see you both golfing with us again in 2011.
Let me take this opportunity to also thank of Camp Jumoke volunteers (Shirley, Donna, Dianne and Gennie) who were also our Hole In One Contest hole spotters. Ladies thank you very much for taking the time out of your busy Saturday schedule to assist us.
I would also like to take a moment to thank and recognize our lone 2 Hole sponsors (Evans Electrical Services and Marsha’s Garden/Landscaping Services).
Be sure to check out the list of all the winners (attached on bottom) and also the pixs taken by Fab Fore member Ian (pixs will be uploaded to SportsNaction/Brothers Tournament website site over the coming week)
As you may be aware, this was the final tournament of our golfing season golfing as a large group. Before we closed the book on the Brothers’ Tournament 2010 season, we turned our attention to our season’s grand finale, the playing of the 6th Annual B*RYDER CUP (Sunday, September 19) match play-cross city event, TEAM EAST-Red Beast from the East versus TEAM WEST-Men in Black.
This is the FIRST and ONLY call to sign up for this event. If you have played in 2+ of our events this season, you automatically qualify. Preference is given to golfers who have golfed in 2+ tournaments, and not how good a golfer you are….If you have supported the Brothers’ Tournaments this summer, you will have the opportunity to represent your Region (East or West)…the dividing boundary is Highway 400.
So my good friends, although we will not be golfing together as one large group for the rest of the golfing season, I am still hoping that many of you that qualify still sign up to golf in the season ending and exciting B*RYDER CUP (btw the B in B*RYDER is for Brothers). Although this is a pretty competitive and FUN event, it brings a small group of us together one last time to keep celebrating the friendships, fellowships of one another. The time is almost upon us to shut the presses down until the 2011 season….but not just yet! We still have 1 more tournament to go…..so stay tuned….
Until then, take good care of yourselves and your respective families.
Blessings to All.
With Much Respect and Appreciation.
