Well my fine folks, in what would off been the final chapter to our golfing season, the 7th Annual Invitational Tournament and Family BBQ held this past Saturday, left many wanting more golfing together and equally as important, more of that delicious BBQ……
Yes folks, Mother Nature is indeed a golfer as she kept those nasty rain/thunderous clouds somewhere…but not over Ajax…..So where do I begin to summarize what just took place at Deer Creek Golf Course for our 82 golfers and for the 120+ party-ers (including the children in the bouncy tent/obstacle course) that took in the delicious Caribbean cooking of Miss Millie all in the backyard of your truly…..I guess my normal introduction would suffice so here goes…….
Greeting and Salutations to all of you out there on these few remaining days of summer….I think!. Hope all is wonderful with you and yours as we finally start to enjoy the heat and humidity and the sunshine of the long awaited summer……as mentioned earlier, Mother Nature was truly kind to us this past Saturday as the forecast definitely called for the wet stuff and lots of it, but any real golfer would tell you it does not rain on a golf course. In fact, the sun was brightly shining on our 82 golfers as they ventured out into the 6000 yards of green pastures and the sun kept on shining for the majority of the day.
Unfortunately, Lady Luck was not shining as brightly on any of our golfers this day that took part in the $10,000 Hole in One Contest. Several of our hackers came pretty close but in the end no one was able to walk away with the top prize or any of the 3 other fabulous prizes. Take note folks, you now have another 359 days to practice for another shot at the $10,000 Grand Prize next summer.
Lady Luck was however shining on one group of individuals on this day and it’s was not our Grand Champion or the Top 5 golfers on this day…it’s was not even the Best Dressed Golfer or the Best Dressed Team. The Children of Camp Jumoke
The final numbers are not in as yet as we are still awaiting several donations and we still have one more tournament to play before we can tally up our Grand Total to these kids. We hope to have this number for you at the conclusion of the replaying of The BAJAN OPEN-part 2 next Sunday, August 23rd)

As is our customary, let’s take a moment to extend a heartfelt welcome to all of those golfing with us for the first time. We love new golfers because for the most part they always have a good time and they come back and they bring a friend or two to our next event….which by the way is the 4th Annual BAJAN OPEN-Part 2 next Sunday August 23. So here they are, our first time golfers to the Brother’s Tournament in no particular order: Ervin Clayton, Ray Pathak, Sean Brown, David McCarthy, Tim Ryan, Ivan Shaw, Romaine Peters, Marlon Cowell, Earl Davis, and Steve Corrigan. Folks, we hope to see you all out golfing with us again either at our final event next Sunday or in 2010.

I would be remiss if I did not say a SPECIAL THANK YOU and recognizes all those individuals who in one way or another assisted in working behind the scenes and at the golf course and in the preparation and in the clean-up at the family BBQ.
I’m going to start off first by recognizing the talents of the Chef of the Day, Miss Millie. This is the second year in a row that Miss Millie has contributed her culinary skills to this event and each time, she leaves them all licking their fingers and wanting more…..to the extraordinary Ladies in the kitchen, Lady Jacqui, Lady Janie, Lady Wendy and Lady Pam, in the absence of my better half, thanks for everything……Donovan and Lady Jacqui for their assistance at the golf course…..to Camp Jumoke and their Hole in One Contest volunteer spotters (Evet, Donna, Bev and Althea)….Habib and his skilful management of the BBQ…..to Bodun from Camp Jumoke who just returned from the Camp site to accept the $1000.00 cheque from SME Pizza Hut, proud sponsors of our Birdie for Cash Contest……to all our sponsors and donors, thank you very much for making our 7th Annual Brothers’ Invitational/Family BBQ/Silent Auction a success……and finally, the Fab Fore (Chris, Ian, Hayden, Fred, Richard and Mike)….each of these gents bring a special talent to this group and for the past 7 years now we have managed to stage these high quality tournaments with a sense of organization and professionalism that keeps many of you coming back and bringing a friend or two.
With one more big event left on our golfing calendar (The 4th Annual BAJAN OPEN- Part 2) scheduled for next Sunday August 23rd at Lakeridge Links in North Ajax, the time is NOW to sign up once more for this season finale (unless you qualify to play in the Prestigious 4th Annual B*RYDER CUP-East vs. West) later in September. THIS IS YOUR FIRST CALL TO SIGN UP NOW (start time/first tee is 9am)……With only 10 days to go, please send me an email with your intention to play and any playing partners etc….a number of you have a rain check form this event played back in June and you are more than welcomed to use it for this tournament. Deadline for names submission is next Tuesday August 18, 4pm……don’t delay as time is of the essence for this our last golf tournament golfing as a large group for the summer.
Well folks, normally at this time of the year I would be closing the books on all 3 of our MAJOR Tournaments and the recently held Invitational Tournament…..as Mother Nature would have it, we still have one MAJOR event left on our calendar as a large group so here is your opportunity to come out and golf with us one more time this summer……. or for the first time.............you are all invited and welcomed!
